Phase Noise of an HTS Resonator Operated in the Nonlinear Regime

چکیده
Nonlinear properties of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) strongly coupled resonators at different input power have been investigated by measurements of the quality factor as a function of input power as well as by generation of the intermodulation distortion (IMD). The double-sided YBCO films on CeO2 buffered sapphire demonstrate advanced performance with the microwave surface resistance of 0.3 m at 8.5 GHz at 77 K and an IMD third-order interception point estimated at circ 70 W. A parallel feedback oscillator was assembled using a transmission type HTS resonator cooled with liquid nitrogen and a room temperature low noise amplifier. Results on the phase noise investigation of the 2.3 GHz oscillator based on HTS resonator operated in the nonlinear regime demonstrated a deviation from the simple model of the phase noise, which predicts an up-conversion of 1 noise of the amplifier to oscillator phase noise. The later can be explained by the phase noise introduced additionally due to the nonlinear response of the HTS resonator.

متن کاملSurpassing fundamental limits of oscillators using nonlinear resonators.
In its most basic form an oscillator consists of a resonator driven on resonance, through feedback, to create a periodic signal sustained by a static energy source. The generation of a stable frequency, the basic function of oscillators, is typically achieved by increasing the amplitude of motion of the resonator while remaining within its linear, harmonic regime. Contrary to this conventional ...

This paper represents the performance of a squirrel-cage High Temperature Superconducting Induction/ Synchronous Motor (HTS-ISM) based on nonlinear electrical equivalent circuit. The structure of the HTS-ISM is the same as that of the squirrel-cage type induction machine, and the secondary windings are fabricated by the use of the HTS wires. It has already been shown that based on the experimen...

This study attempts to compare the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the 40 mm High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) surface resonator at 77 K and the 35 mm commercial quadrature (QD) surface resonator at 300 K in a 3 Tesla (T) MRI imager. To aquire images for the comparison, we implemented a phantom experiment using the 40 mm diameter Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (Bi-2223) HTS surface resonator, the 35 mm com...

High temperature superconducting (HTS) surface resonators have been used as a low loss RF receiver resonator for improving magnetic resonance imaging image quality. However, the application of HTS surface resonators is significantly limited by their filling factor. To maximize the filling factor, it is desirable to have the RF resonator wrapped around the sample so that more nuclear magnetic di...
